Apparently, the BC recruiting staff is going to be just fine without Kenyatta Watson.
Following a wild week that saw the GM and program part ways, BC fans got some rather stunning news on Sunday afternoon when Xaverian star QB and now former Penn State commit Will Wood announced he’s flipping to BC.
Back in May when he initially decided between the Nittany Lions and Eagles, Wood’s final two teams while making a decision were BC and Penn State.
We caught up with Wood shortly after the announcement on Sunday to find out why he ultimately decided to stay home after attending Saturday’s game against Pitt.
NEFJ: Why did you decide to change your commitment. What was the deciding factor?
“Ultimately it was being able to have a chance to compete early while being coached by Bill O’Brien. It took me awhile to realize, but i want to stay home and be apart of bringing BC back.”
NEFJ: When did you start to think about changing your commitment and how much of a role did your family and coaches play in it?
“It’s been on my mind for awhile, but i think it became very real these past few weeks and once I got to campus on Saturday I realized that Boston is my home and I have to stay here.”
NEFJ: How much are looking forward to playing closer to home and in front of friends and family. Was that important to you when you decided to commit to BC?
“I can’t wait to get to school and be able to play with former teammates and be close to my home. That was definitely a huge factor in my decision.”
NEFJ: What do you want BC fans and alumni to know about now that you are a future Eagle?
“I’m going to give Boston College everything I got and I have full confidence that Coach O’Brien will bring us to where we need to go.”
