NEW BRITAIN — The 2025 football season may not have started yet, but the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils already have a home victory.
Windsor High School senior quarterback Anthony Robinson announced his decision to commit to the Blue Devils on Saturday evening.
“I’m very excited, the goal was always to play college football and to get a free education,” Robinson said following his commitment.
Robinson, a three-time All-State selection, helped lead the Warriors to an undefeated regular season record (10-0) during the 2024 season and led them to the Class MM state title. Before the start of the 2025 season, Robinson helped lead the Warriors to winning this year’s ‘Grip It & Rip It’ tournament in New Canaan.
The Connecticut native had interest from Bryant and Maine before making the decision to commit to CCSU, which is within 30 minutes of where he’ll play football on Friday nights this fall.
As for the Blue Devils, they get one of the state’s best quarterbacks as Robinson is viewed as a dual-threat that can sling the ball. It’s also another Warrior they’ll add to the roster as running back John Manning and linebacker Jaden Langford each committed to CCSU this past fall and are incoming freshmen.
Robinson, who’s played on the gridiron alongside Manning and Langford his whole life, is excited to reunite with them after his senior season.
“I’m very excited to join John and Jaden,” Robinson said. “I have played with them all my life and we have a great connection with each other as a group. They are like my brothers.”
Windsor will open its 2025 season hosting the Torrington Raiders on Friday, September 12. Robinson will play for a new head coach, as former offensive coordinator Quinn Fleeting replaces his father Rob, who recently stepped down from the position.
Though there’s a coaching change, Robinson is excited to play for Quinn, who has been his offensive coordinator for his past three seasons and says the Windsor culture is still the same.
“I’m excited to play for Quinn this year,” Robinson said. “Yes it’s a change in the name but the culture will stay the same and we will prepare the same way we prepare every year. Nothing changes.”
Though he has gotten the recruiting process out of the way before the start of his senior season, Robinson said that no weight has been lifted off of his shoulders, as he’ll carry a big workload on the way to (hopefully) reaching another state title.
“No, it doesn’t give me less weight off my shoulders,” Robinson added. “I’m still grinding everyday like I’m not committed and I’m working towards the same goal- the championship.”
