NEFJ: Talk about your football journey. When did you start playing football? What attracted you to the sport?
GE: “I started playing football in 6th grade I wasn’t really into the sport, I got asked to at least try it so I did. I was attracted to it because the love people showed towards the game and that feeling carried on to me and my view of the game as well.”
NEFJ: When did you start playing offensive line What attracted you to the position?
GE: “I started playing offensive line as soon as I touched the pads. I was attracted to it because of the brotherhood and work that needs to be put into it because you can do all the drills in the world and still have something to improve on. When you play offensive line you’re NEVER bored and you’re always hungry for more. More reps, more pancakes, and more times see your quarterback or running having the best time of their lives when they score.”
NEFJ: How much of a role have your coaches and your family played in your development. Why do you think it is important to have that support?
GE: “My coaches and family play a BIG role in my development towards the game. my coaches Coach Tardif, Coach Watson and Coach Martin have helped me every day by making sure I’m in class, watching film, and going out to the field and getting extra work done. For my Family they play a big role by BELIEVING in my talent and trusting that I will make the right decisions and not overwhelm me with things that will distract me from achieving my goals. I think it is important to have support because it is always good to have multiple options and when they all have the same goal, which is to make you better, it makes it easier for you to achieve them.”
NEFJ: When you’re not doing anything football related, what do you like to do off the field. Favorite hobbies, activities etc.
GE: “When I am not working out or doing anything football related, I like to play the game or do something family related. When it’s nice out I like to go golfing and fishing with my family to connect and get away from problems.”
NEFJ: What is your go to meal? When you crave it, you need to have it.
GE: “My go to meal is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich because it’s easy to make and probably the best sandwich you could have.”
NEFJ: It is ten minutes before kickoff, what are you listening to get you hyped before you go out and play?
GE: “Ten minutes before kickoff and I’m playing music I’m mostly play Lil baby or Lil durk because of the beat and the lyrics I can’t listen to over hype music because as a offensive lineman you can’t just go out and react you need to take the time and think about your assignment.”
NEFJ: What are your personal and team goals for the 2025 season and how do you go about accomplishing them?
GE: “Personal goal for the season is to win the state championship and be able to get off the bus and bring my city something to enjoy and remember for a long time after I leave high school. For me and my team our goal is to get back and take over the state which means from game one taking down SJP to show we aren’t playing around then Beating Xaverian Brothers since they won it last year and to let them know it’s gonna be a tuff year for them.”
