STORRS, CT — University of Connecticut wide receiver Skyler Bell cemented his place in program lore today, earning a prestigious First Team All-American selection from the Associated Press (AP). Bell’s selection is a historic moment for the Huskies, as he becomes the first player in UConn football history to be named to the AP’s First Team.
The redshirt senior’s extraordinary 2025 season captured the attention of voters nationwide, culminating in this landmark achievement. Bell, a Bronx, NY native, concluded his standout year by shattering school records for receptions and receiving touchdowns. He amassed an incredible 101 catches for 1,278 yards and found the end zone 13 times, delivering one of the most statistically dominant receiving performances in the nation. His yardage and reception totals ranked second nationally, while he led the country with seven 100-yard receiving games.
This honor is the pinnacle of a season filled with accolades for the dynamic wideout. Bell was previously named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America second team and was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the most outstanding receiver in college football. He is also set to showcase his talents at the upcoming Panini Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl, further highlighting his professional prospects.
Bell’s career trajectory saw him transfer to UConn for his final two seasons, and his impact on the Huskies’ resurgent program has been immediate and profound. He has not only led the passing attack but also helped guide UConn to a second consecutive nine-win season, proving instrumental in the program’s success. As he now turns his focus toward the professional level, his name will forever stand as a historic first-team selection, a true All-American, and a symbol of excellence for UConn football.
