Transferred to TCU from Texas. Wiley burst onto the scene in 2023 catching 47 passes for 520 yards and 8 touchdowns. He averaged 11.1 yards per reception en route to All Big-12 First Team honors.
Here is my scouting report on Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley, TE, 6-6 249, TCU
Hands: Wiley has strong hands. Attacks the ball and can catch it all over his frame. He has short arms for his size which limits his effectiveness in contested catch situations but he still has a wide catch radius.
Patterns: Effective in all three levels. Runs clean routes and can create some separation at the top of routes. Tends to be a bit upright in his routes and doesn’t snap off his breaks.
Receive Long & Short: A three level threat who is most effective in the short and intermediate passing game.
Run After Catch: Wiley had an 81 yard touchdown catch this season. He good straight line speed for his size and is a threat after the catch. A long strider with a second gear.
Blocker: Competitive but needs work in this area. Tends to overextend on blocks, especially in-line and falls off blocks. Needs to do a better job of sustaining blocks especially on drive and reach blocks.
Release: Gets clean releases when displaced but tends to get re-routes from an in-line alignment. Needs to work on getting back on track once he separates.
React to Ball/Crowd: Willing to run routes into the tough areas and compete for the ball. Tough pass catcher in traffic. Absorbs contact and holds onto the ball.
Initial Quicks: Has good initial quickness for his size. Can throttle down and separate from man coverage in space. Wiley has good footwork for his size.
Final Report: A king sized tight end with an elite skill set, Wiley profiles as a true Y tight end. He has met with the Patriots this off-season and will be on their radar late day two, early day three.
Draft Range: 3rd to 5th Round
