Three year starter for the Eagles. Missed the 2022 season with a knee injury but bounced back and had a stellar 2023 campaign where he finished First Team All-ACC.
Here is my scouting report on Christian Mahogany.
Christian Mahogany, OG, 6-3 314, Boston College
Initial Quicks: Good initial quickness. Reestablishes the line of scrimmage and controls defenders one on one on single blocks and in pass pro.
Run Block: Physical run blocker who comes off the ball with a low pad level, fits inside and gets consistent movement. Displays good strength at the point of attack. Needs to do a better job of sustaining blocks. Athletic. He can play in space on the second level but needs to do a better job of sticking on blocks in space.
Pass Block: Good short area pass blocker. Moves well laterally, punches and recoils. Can hold up versus bull rushers and handle quick three techniques who jump the snap. Needs to sit more in his set. Can be high at times.
Pull & Trap: Moves well laterally and is effective on pulls. Gets up the hole and can sustain blocks on contact. Effective on counter and trap plays. Needs to do a better job locating and making contact against defenders in space.
Use of Hands: Strong hands. Controls defenders on drive blocks and on double teams. Gets his hands inside and wins on the snap.
Strength: Plays with a good pad level and uses his hips on contact . A whole body blocker who has the upper body strength to finish blocks and play through the whistle.
Explosion: Good explosion for his size. Gets into defenders, gets movement and goes through the whistle. Plays with an edge and aims to pancake defenders on every play.
Final Report: Mahogany recently visited the Patriots on a top 30 visit. The team knows him well so they would be comfortable drafting him. Mahogany bounced back nicely from his knee injury and profiles as a potential day one starter as a rookie.
Draft Range: 2nd-4th Round
