The son of former NFL great Jerry Rice, Brenden began his career at Colorado before transferring to USC to play for Lincoln Riley. Rice put up big numbers for the Trojans the past two seasons, amassing over 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns. 12 of those came last season.

Rice was Second Team All-PAC-12 last season.

Here is my scouting report on Brenden Rice.

Brenden Rice, WR, 6-2 208, USC

Hands -Some of the best hands in this class. Catches everything around his frame. Has shown an ability to consistently high point the ball in one on one situations.

Patterns -Smooth route runner like his father. Gets in and out of cuts, his stems are good and he creates separation on route breaks. Can be a little too tall st the top of routes and allows defenders to stay on his hip pocket.

Receive Long and Short –More of a short to intermediate threat. Plays faster than he times but he is not a vertical threat. True X receiver who could be productive in the red zone.

Run After Catch – Makes chunk plays and has a second gear to where he can separate and finish plays. Again, reminds me of his father in this area.

Blocker -Willing to block and compete his ass off. Does a good job fundamentally but needs to sustain blocks.

Release -Good release although he gets re-routed at times and needs to reset his route path.

React to Ball/Crowd –Rice is willing to compete in a crowd for a 50/50 ball but he doesn’t always play to his size and skill set in this area.

Initial Quicks –Lumbers at times. Doesn’t have a lot of pop in his release. Needs to prove he can separate from press coverage and get back on track in his route.

Final Report- Rice has big shoes to fill being the son of a legend but he has the size and skill set to do it. Profiles as a true X receiver who can play on the backside of formations and win. He would be a good fit in AVP’s offense.

Draft Range- 2nd-4th Round
