The Dolphins visit the Patriots today and there are several key match-ups that will determine the outcome of this game.
Here are the five match ups to watch today.
Tyreek Hill vs. Jonathan Jones: It is always a good match-up when these two go head to head. Jones has held his own against Hill in recent years and I would expect more of the same this week. Do not expect the Patriots to help Jones much so he will have Jones in man coverage a lot in this game.
Jaylen Waddle vs. Christian Gonzalez: Gonzalez is playing at an elite level but he will have his hands full against the speedy Waddle who is a crafty route runner and knows how to create separation vertically. The Patriots want to lock up Gonzalez on him as much as possible. Especially when Waddle lines up at the X.
Dolphins D-Line vs. Patriots O-Line: With Christian Wilkins no longer on the Dolphins, the Patriots offensive line gets a reprieve. Despite that, the Patriots are breaking in a new center today in either Nick Leverett or Bryan Hudson. Both will have their hands full against a front that is stout inside and can control gaps. Whichever ever team can win the line of scrimmage, wins this game.
Jalen Ramsey vs. Kendrick Bourne: Welcome back KB. Your reward for returning? You get to match-up against one of the best corners in the NFL. The Patriots will have to move Bourne around and use stack alignments if they want to get him away from Ramsey today. Creating space for Bourne will be key if he is to have any shot at making plays.
Left tackle vs. Calais Campbell: Campbell has been a monster in this league for a long time so whether it is Vedarian Lowe or Denontray Jacobs, they will have their hands full with the veteran. Campbell can still generate pressure as a pass rusher and he can anchor down and set an edge against the run. His length will be an issue in this game for the Patriots left tackles.
