As much as we’d all like to think Bill Belichick is the living, breathing, walking example of Scrooge, that’s just simply not the case. Bill is actually a big fan of Christmas. On Christmas Eve Friday, New England practiced inside Gillette Stadium around noon time with light snow falling and Christmas carols blaring throughout the stadium. Assistant coaches ran some red zone plays while players stretched at the start and…

Photo: Nancy Lane/MediaNews Group/Boston Herald JC Jackson was named to his first Pro Bowl on Wednesday, a well deserved honor for the Patriots’ No. 1 cornerback. Jackson has proven he can be an elite corner in this league and his ability to fill a role that Steph Gilmore’s absence left vacant has been enormous for this defense and probably one of the main reasons the team is currently fighting for…

Photo: Barry Chin/Boston Globe Mac Jones hadn’t lost much in his football career prior to being a member of the Patriots. Whether it was high school or Alabama, the rare loss Jones took was usually quickly pushed aside by a dominant performance with elite players around him a week or two later. Things are different now, and Jones is faced with quite a difficult task for a rookie quarterback this…

Photo by Justin Casterline/Getty Images Throughout Bill Belichick’s tenure as Head Coach of the Patriots, his teams have consistently fielded one of the best special teams units in the NFL. New England has invested in special teams more than most other franchises and prided themselves in executing in those situations that can often flip games. This season, however, the Patriots special teams have made several high profile and costly mistakes….

Photo by Michael Allio/Icon Sportswire via Getty Image It is easy to point to one area and say that’s why the Patriots lost 27-17 to the Colts on Saturday night. The truth is, it was a collective failure. The Patriots lost the game in all three phases. The run defense was an issue as Jonathan Taylor did to the Patriots what he has done to everyone else this season. Gash…

Photo: Carmen Mandato/Getty Images Hunter Henry might just be one of those perfect Patriots. The free agent tight end had high expectations heaped upon him by the fans coming into this season and rightfully so after New England jumped at the chance to sign him and Jonnu Smith very early on this spring. For the first few weeks once getting healthy his performance was underwhelming. Then, Henry suddenly became Mac…

Saturday night could very well need to be the Rhamondre Stevenson and Brandon Bolden show if the Patriots are going to remain the top seed in the AFC. The Colts have talked all week about how they want to put the ball in Mac Jones’ hands by taking away the run. It was announced Friday that Damien Harris’ hamstring injury will prevent him from playing, which could make Indy’s job…

Common sense and compassion are two things that have seemingly fallen off the face of the earth in the last couple years. So, when Robert Kraft, program director Sherman Patterson and New Bedford Police Chief Paul Oliveira briefly gathered at the 50-yard line on Thursday afternoon to announce the “Lights On!” initiative, it was a small step towards trying to bring both of those things back to the area. “Lights…

Okay, so none of us thought the Patriots would be in this position back in August, right? Sure, once Mac beat out Cam for the starting job and it was clear he was going to be the guy moving forward, a lot of people believed he’d have what it takes to help lead this team to something better than the 7-9 finish a year ago. But, no one could have…
