As the 2026 college football season kicks off, the Brown Bears step onto the gridiron with a wealth of veteran leadership and explosive potential across all three phases. Under the direction of Head Coach James Perry, who also orchestrates the team’s high-tempo, high-yardage aerial attack, Brown enters the fall with high expectations. Anchored by returning starter James Murphy at quarterback, a loaded backfield, and a disruptive defensive line, the Bears aim to make a serious push up the Ivy League standings. With an ideal mix of seasoned playmakers and rising talent on both sides of the ball, the framework is firmly in place for a dynamic year in Providence. 

It was a gorgeous 75 degree morning when we visited with the Brown Bears on Saturday. The Bears are coming off of a difficult 3-7 season in 2024. A season that led to changes.  The Bears have a new defensive coordinator in former Anna Maria coach Dan Mulrooney. Mulrooney was recently the head coach at Lock Haven.
