Recruiting: Schools in Connecticut and Massachusetts to host Show Days on Monday and Tuesday

Ten schools will be participating in the inaugural New England Show Days which will take place this Monday and Tuesday.

The Schools will host 30 -45 Min “Pro Day” type workouts on their own campus. Workouts will be staggered throughout allowing coaches to travel school to school and physically see the kids workout.

The idea is the brainchild of Avon Old Farms Head Coach Jon Wholley. Wholley spent years as a Division One assistant at UConn, Fordham and Mississippi State.

For Wholley, the Show Days are designed to give players another opportunity to get in front of coaches.

“College coaches are not allowed to go to rival camps or seven on sevens. They can only host a camp or go watch a kid workout with their high school team. What we’re doing is we’re bringing camp to them by doing it at each campus.”

Wholley says that over 30 schools will attend the two days. Rutgers, Boston College, UMass, Pitt, Syracuse, Maryland, Texas Tech, Nebraska Iowa, Iowa State, Purdue and Virginia Tech are among the schools that will have coaches on hand.

Wholly hopes that the Show Days expand as times goes on. His goal is to highlight some prospects that might be flying under the radar.

“That’s what I’d like to do. Develop relationships. I know Connecticut. I don’t know Massachusetts. This isn’t designed for the players coaches know. It’s more for the players they don’t know.”
