Recruiting: Jayden Bass realizes a lifelong dream by committing to Syracuse

Syracuse reeled in a big fish out of the New England pond last night when Springfield Central offensive lineman Jayden Bass committed to the Orangemen.

Bass held 20 offers total including offers from: Temple, UConn, UMass, Central Michigan, Buffalo, Akron, Eastern Michigan, Navy, Army, UNH and Maine.

Ultimately, Bass settled on Syracuse after receiving an offer on June 5th and visiting the school on June 24th. According to Bass, the decision to commit to Syracuse just came to him.

“It was a decision that just came to me. It was time to make that next big move in my life and career and I felt like it was a great decision. Adding to that a great degree, great football and a great opportunity to play early and I felt like it was a great decision for myself and my family.”

Bass said he will play offensive tackle for the Orange. At 6-5 290, he profiles as a right tackle because of his size and physicality. He is a physical run blocker and has good feet for his size. He has really come along physically but if you project moving forward, his best football is ahead of him.

Bass dreamed of playing Division One College Football someday and now that dream is a reality.

“I’m feeling very excited and blessed to have the opportunity to play college football and live out my dreams . It is very special to me and it’s just the start ! A lot more work needs to be done !”

Indeed but for now Bass will savor the moment and get ready for his senior season at Springfield Central. A season that once again has the potential to be special.
