Recruiting: Catholic Memorial defensive end Boubacar Traore decommits from Boston College

Four star Catholic Memorial defensive end Boubacar Traore announced on Saturday night that he is opening up his recruitment and is no longer committed to Boston College.

Traore committed to Boston College in August of 2020 along with teammates Datrell Jones (RB) and Jaeden Skeete (WR). Eagles coach Jeff Hafley wanted to get a jump on local recruiting after arriving at the Heights so he made the trio the center piece of his local recruiting efforts.

With Traore decommiting, the focus will now shift to other schools who could offer him between now and the start of the 2022 season. Expect Traore to receive multiple offers in the coming days and weeks. One of those offers could come from Notre Dame.

The Irish have been actively recruiting Traore for a while now and many think that they could be the favorite to land his commitment.

The Irish recently picked up a commitment from Central Catholic tight end/linebacker Preston Zinter . Prior to that, Bishop Hendricken (R.I) defensive end Jason Onye (2021) and Lawrence Academy offensive tackle Ty Chan (2022) committed and signed with the Irish.

Notre Dame has been actively recruiting New England in recent years under both Brian Kelly and now Marcus Freeman. Could Traore be the next local recruit to commit to Notre Dame? Time will tell.

For now, his recruitment is wide open and as always, we will cover it until Boubacar makes a decision.
