Rams come in at No. 10 in the first FCS AFCA Poll

The Rhode Island Rams were already the preseason favorite in the CAA after being picked to finish first in the conference and now they are in the top ten of the preseason AFCA poll.

Rhode Island finished the final coaches poll of the 2024 campaign at No. 11, capping off a historic year for the program that saw the team win a program-best 11 games (11-3) and a share of its first-ever CAA Football championship. Rhode Island earned an at-large selection to the NCAA FCS Championship field as a 10-seed and defeated Central Connecticut State, 21-17, in a playoff game at home.

The Rams return several key contributors from last season’s team including quarterback Devin Farrell, wide receiver Marquis Buchanan and EDGE A.J Peña. The program is well positioned to make another run to a conference title this season and a playoff spot.

Training camp is in full swing in Kingston. The Rams have a scrimmage scheduled for this Saturday before doing a mock game on August 22nd.

Rhode Island opens the 2025 season at home on Friday night August 29th against Campbell.
