Reading native and former Merrimack tight end Pat Conroy has entered the transfer portal. Conroy missed last season due to injury but he started in 2021 and 2022.
The 6-3 240 pound Conroy is your classic move tight end that can line up in a variety of alignments in a formation and play in multiple personnel groupings
For his career, Conroy has caught 37 passes for 696 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns.
We caught up with Pat to get his thoughts on entering the portal.
NEFJ: What made you enter the portal and how has the process gone so far?
PC: “It was a tough decision but with Coach Curran leaving I felt it was the best choice for me to move on and explore different options.”
NEFJ: While you wait for offers to come in, what are you working on in terms of your game?
PC: “I’m currently rehabing an injury that held me out last year so I’m attacking that and getting in the weight room to get bigger, faster, and stronger.”
NEFJ: What are you looking for in your next school?
PC: “I’m looking for a program that has a winning culture.”
NEFJ: How would you describe your game? What are your strengths?
PC: “I would describe myself as a guy that is a hybrid type. I’m able to line up from a 3 point, in the slot, or on the outside. I’m a versatile receiver and also am able to do great things in the run game as well.”
