The Pirates will look to snap their two game losing streak when they host the Tulsa Oilers this evening at Tsongas Arena. Coming off of losses to Iowa and Northern Arizona, the Pirates need a win badly.
Tulsa has lost its last three games. The Oilers are 3-5 and are in fifth place in the East. Both teams need a win to keep pace in the Eastern Conference.
The Pirates are 2-0 all-time against the Oilers.
Here are three keys for the Pirates.
1. Finish! The Pirates lost 41-40 last week to Northern Arizona in a game they could have won. Massachusetts had a chance to win the game but a late interception by Conor Degenhardt sealed their fate. Finishing late is the mark of a championship team. Pirates need to prove they can do it.
2. Keep feeding Jimmie: Jimmie Robinson continues to be the primary source of offense for the Pirates. The offense runs through him. Get him involved early.
3. Receivers need to step up: Massachusetts has too much perimeter talent to be struggling in the passing game like they have of late. Massachusetts needs to go back to spreading the wealth around offensively and getting all their receivers touches.
Final Thoughts: The Pirates need to get back to playing consistent football. It has been a roller coaster ride the last two games. The offense needs to finish and the defense needs to get stops in key situations. If the Pirates do that, they should get back on track tonight.
