Pirates Preview: Massachusetts Pirates (8-7) at Tulsa Oilers (5-10)

The Pirates wrap up the regular season with a trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on the Tulsa Oilers. The Pirates had a bye week last week after losing a tough one to San Antonio, 58-55 the week prior.

The Pirates are 3-0 all-time against the Oilers. They beat Tulsa 23-22 at Tsongas Arena on May 25th.

Here are three keys for tonight’s game.

1. Shake off the rust: Pirates we’re off last week. They need to shake off the rust and start fast. They scored 55 punts against San Antonio. Carry that offense over.

2. Defense must play well: The defense has struggled all year. It would be good for the confidence of this team if they played well and generated some momentum heading into the playoffs.

3. Move over and let Jimmie take over: When in doubt, let running back Jimmie Robinson do his thing. He is the most complete back in the league. Feed the man.

Final Thoughts: On paper, this is a winnable game but the Pirates are coming off a bye and Tulsa always plays them tough. Factor in that it’s a road game and this will be a tough game for the Pirates to win.
