Pirates Preview: Massachusetts Pirates (3-2) at Green Bay Blizzard (2-3)

Kickoff: The Pirates will be looking for their first road win of the season when they travel to Green Bay to take on the Blizzard. The Pirates won the first meeting between the two teams. The Pirates won their season opener the DCU Center with a 55-41 victory over the Blizzard.

Three Keys to the Game

1. Get Robinson going early: Jimmie Robinson has to touch the ball early and often. He scored six touchdowns in the season opener. The Blizzard had no answer for him defensively.

2. Defense must play better: The Pirates gave up 36 points in the first meeting between these teams but they have struggled since then to play consistent defense. Green Bay has improved as an offensive team this season. They are more explosive. The defense has to step up and create some separation.

3. Rolling Russo: Anthony Russo continues to impress as the starting quarterback. He has been fantastic thus far in place of the injured Alejandro Bennifield. When Bennifield is ready to return, the Pirates will be facing a tough decision. Russo has made a big difference especially as a pocket passer.

Final Thoughts: No offense to the Blizzard, but this is a winnable game. The Pirates are 3-2 record all-time against the Blizzard. In the series, the home team has won every game since the first meeting in 2021. Green Bay has won both games at the Resch Center while the Pirates have won all three meetings at the DCU Center. I think that changes tonight. Pirates pick up their first road win of the season.
