Phillips Exeter Academy linebacker Isaiah Reese was recently selected to play in the Under Armour Next All-American Game.

The Virginia commit led the Lions to an 8-1 season and a win in the Drew Gamere Bowl. He finished his career with a 7 carry, 154 yard performance, including a 58 yard touchdown run.

Reese says he is honored to be selected to play in the game and represent Phillips Exeter Academy.

“It truly is an honor to be invited to a game that holds such magnitude. Three years ago, I couldn’t picture myself playing at the level I am today. It truly is a surreal feeling and I’m more than blessed and thankful for this opportunity.”

Phillips Exeter coach Panos Voulgaris praised Reese’s leadership and what he has meant to the success of the program.

“Isaiah was a paramount leader for our team. He never missed a practice in his Exeter career and led by example on a daily basis. His toughness and durability made him one of the most productive players in Exeter’s recent football history.”

Reese says playing at Phillips Exeter for Voulgaris set him up for the success that he is experiencing now.

“Going to Exeter was the best decision of my life. The opportunities it has provided me. It has made me a better person, player, and student. Coach Voulgaris is the best coach I have ever had and a lot of my success in recruitment stems from him working behind the scenes and off the field.”

Reese has been one of the more unheralded players in New England the past two seasons. Voulgaris says he can do it all and that is why he is playing in the Under Armour All-Game and the University of Virginia.

“Isaiah’s versatility set him apart from other players. He can play at all three levels on the defensive side of the ball. And he can line up at any skill position on the offensive side.”

Reese is looking forward to playing in the all-star but he is looking forward to starting the next phase of his football career at Virginia.

“I’m really looking forward to Virginia and just becoming a better player each day.”

Before Reese arrives on campus, he has more opportunity to represent Phillips Exeter and he will do it on a national stage.
