Patriots Training Camp Preview: Day 10

After having Saturday off, the Patriots return to practice this afternoon. The last time we saw the team was on Friday night in the in-stadium practice. We didn’t get much from that practice as it was a glorified walk-through.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from Friday was Matthew Judon signing a contract adjustment that raised his guaranteed money for 2023 from $2 million to potentially $18 million.

Here are five things we are watching in today’s practice.

1. The return of Judon- Matt Judon is back and it will be interesting to see what type of game shape he is in. One has to assume he has missed the first two weeks of camp because of his contract. If that is the case, it will take him some time to get back into the swing of things.

2. Can the offense maintain its momentum? The offense finished strong last week with solid practices on Wednesday and Thursday. Mac Jones in particular looked sharp. Friday night didn’t give us much to talk about so hopefully the offense can continue to develop and build off the two good practices last week.

3. Trent Brown watch- Brown has slowly but surely started to make progress in terms of practicing. Will today be the day? We’ll find out.

4. Young lineman update- Rookies Sidy Sow, Jake Andrews and Atonio Mafi have gotten a lot of reps thanks to the Patriots injury issues along the offensive line. They have held up well and should continue to get valuable reps.

5. Cornerback competition- The cornerback competition is heating with rookies Isaiah Bolden and Ameer Speed getting more reps. With Jack Jones future up in the air (it is even more in doubt after he met with the media on Friday night), Bolden, Speed and veterans Quandre Moseley and Brad Hawkins will have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot or the practice squad.
