The New England Patriots are set to host a unique, family-focused football camp designed to introduce the next generation of fans to the game of football. On Tuesday, August 4, the Patriots will host a Parent & Youth Clinic that will take place immediately following the conclusion of Patriots Training Camp practice at Gillette Stadium.
Serving as the official camp ambassador is former Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer, a respected former player whose deep knowledge of the game makes him the perfect guide for families taking their first steps into the sport.
Hoyer decided to get involved because he wanted to give back to a game that has given him so much in his life.
“Football has given me so much throughout my life, and I feel a real responsibility to help grow the game for the next generation. New England has experienced so many incredible years of Patriots football, and we want to turn that passion into more opportunities for kids across the region to get on the field and experience the game for themselves.”
The clinic is specifically tailored for beginners and those curious about the game, meaning it is not intended for currently rostered or highly experienced youth players. Instead, it offers a welcoming, low-pressure, and highly supportive introduction.
The day begins with a shared experience as families gather to watch the team’s morning practice together from a designated group section. This close-up view of the pros at work sets the stage for the main event. Around 12:00 PM, as the team finishes practice, the clinic officially gets underway.
From there, the event transitions into a dynamic, experience designed to engage both parents and children ages 6 to 12.
For the kids, the clinic offers hands-on coaching and high-energy drill stations. Participants will learn the absolute fundamentals of football, including basic skill development, while running through activities led by former Patriots players and coaches. The focus is entirely on fun, confidence-building, and experiencing the unique thrill of training on the same fields used by the pros.
While the young athletes are on the field, parents will participate in their own dedicated educational aspect of the camp. Led by Patriots team staff and alumni, the camp gives parents an inside look at how the sport has evolved, with a heavy emphasis on modern safety advancements and proper coaching techniques. Presenters will also highlight the multifaceted benefits of football, explaining how the sport fosters teamwork, resilience, and personal confidence.
Hoyer says it is important to emphasize the benefits of football and stress the life lessons the game teaches you.
“Youth football participation has declined, and it is important that we remind families of everything the game can teach. Football instills hard work, accountability, dedication, resilience, and teamwork. More importantly, the memories and life lessons kids gain while competing and having fun with their friends can stay with them forever.”
By combining training camp with hands-on, expert instruction, this special clinic provides local families with a perfect introduction to the New England football community.
