The Patriots announced on Friday that they have signed fourth round draft pick Javon Baker. Baker, 22, was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 110th overall pick out of the University of Central Florida.
The 6-foot-1, 202 Baker began his college career at Alabama, before playing two seasons at UCF. In 27 games at UCF, Baker registered 108 receptions for 1,935 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
Baker is expected to line up in multiple receiver spots in the Patriots offense but he will more than likely be the team’s primary X receiver. He gives the Patriots the much needed dynamic outside playmaker they haves lacked in recent years.
Baker joins fellow rookie second round pick Ja’Lynn Polk in a crowded receiver room. The Patriots currently have 11 receivers on the roster.
New England has signed four of its eight draft picks from last months draft. The team still needs to sign first round pick Drake Maye, the aforementioned Polk, third round pick Caedan Wallace and fourth round pick Layden Robinson.
