The Patriots have released several players ahead of today’s 4 pm deadline to trim the roster to 53 players.

Here is who has been released thus far.

Demontrey Jacobs, OT- Jacobs has started 13 games in his career. The veteran tackle was servicable last season and brought back on a one year contract this off-season but could not secure a roster spot.

Parker Romo, K- Romo lost out the kicking competition to rookie fifth round draft pick Andres Borregales.

Miles Battle, CB- Battle had his moments in training camp but clearly did not do enough to seperate from the other defensive backs and make the team. He is a practice squad candidate.

Brandon Crossley, CB- The rookie from SMU had a good spring but could not parlay that into a good enough training camp to make the roster. Another practice squad candidate.

John Jiles, WR- Coaching staff favorite just didn’t do enoiugh to stick out in a crowded receiver room.

C.J Dippre, TE- Dippre seemed like a lock to ultimately make the team as the third tight end but he never made enough of an impression to stick. Dippre is a strong practice squad candidate if he doesn’t latch on elsewhere.

Marcus Epps, S- According to sources, Epps asked for his release citing scheme fit.

David Olajiga, DT- The International Academy product had a good camp and could be brought back on the practice squad.

Alec Lindstrom, C- Lindstrom returned home to play for his hometown Patriots. He did not stick but could end up back on the practice squad. He will get a shot elsewhere.

Mekhi Butler, G- Butler had a competitive training camp but he did not do enough to challenge more entrenched lineman like Caeden Wallace.

Cam Riley, LB- Riley has good size and physical tools but he needs to develop more and would benefit from a return to the practice squad.

JaMychal Hasty, RB- The veteran running back had an uphill climb in a talented room featuring three good back in front of him in Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson and Tre’Veyon Henderson.

Truman Jones, EDGE- Jones has terrific leadership traits and he is a versatile defensive and special teams player. You could see him resign to the practice squad.

Jahvaree Ritzee, DT- Ritzee was informed this afternoon that he has been released. The young defensive tackle struggled to get more snaps despite having an opening with the lack of depth at the position.
