The Patriots have re-signed outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings to a three year, $12 million dollar deal. The deal has a maximum value of $24 million dollars.
The 6-foot-3, 255-pound Jennings started 14 games and totaled 66 tackles and 1.5 sacks last season. He was one of the Patriots most versatile defenders and was also good against the run.
Jennings was drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Up until this season, he has primarily been a role player. He has elevated his play the past two years however and is an integral part of the Patriots defense.
Jennings will once again be counted on to play a pivotal role opposite Matthew Judon who is expected to be back from a season ending shoulder injury. He will more than like rotate with recently resigned Josh Uche.
The Patriots return a good chunk of their defensive core from last season and are well positioned to once again be one of the top defenses in the league. Retaining Jennings and Uche will help.
