The Patriots have reached reaching an agreement to re-sign backup Tommy DeVito. According to his agent, Sean Stellato, the deal is a two-year pact worth $7.4 million, which includes $2 million in guaranteed money. The move ensures continuity behind MVP runner-up Drake Maye, who led the team to a Super Bowl LX appearance this season.
DeVito originally joined the Patriots in August 2025 after being claimed off waivers from the New York Giants. While he served as the emergency third-string quarterback throughout the 2025 campaign and did not see regular-season action.
The New Jersey native brings valuable starting experience to the roster. During his tenure with the Giants, he appeared in 12 games with eight starts, posting a career 65.3% completion rate and throwing eight touchdowns.
By securing DeVito on a multi-year deal, the Patriots maintain a stable depth chart that also features veteran Joshua Dobbs. This trio proved to be a cohesive unit during New England’s 14–3 regular season, providing the coaching staff with a reliable mix of youthful upside and proven back up options.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news of DeVito’s signing this morning.
