The running back position is once again a strength for the Patriots featuring both Rhamondre Stevenson and TreyVeon Henderson. The duo is one of the most dynamic one, two tandems in the NFL.

The two will get the bulk of the carries but there are some intriguing depth options including second year back Lan Larison and rookie Jam Miller. Both will be solidly in the mix for the third running back spot.

Here is our running back preview.

Rhamondre Stevenson, 6’0″, 227, Oklahoma: Stevenson enters the 2026 season looking to build off of a solid season. After a slow start early on, Stevenson hit his stride during the stretch run and playoffs, averaging 5.7 yards per carry over his final eight games while grading out as one of the league’s top pass-blocking backs. His physical, downhill running style provides the Patriots with a battle-tested lead back who excels at forcing missed tackles and pushing through contact on crucial downs.

TreVeyon Henderson, 5’10, 208, Ohio State: Henderson proved to be a dynamic force in his rookie season after being selected in the second round. Pacing the Patriots with 1,132 scrimmage yards and 10 total touchdowns, his breakaway speed generated one of the highest explosive run rates in the NFL. Forming a potent one-two punch alongside Stevenson, Henderson gives New England game-changing speed out of the backfield and versatile receiving ability.

Terrell Jennings, 6’0″, 225, Florida A&M: Jennings enters 2026 fighting for key situational reps behind the primary duo. A power runner with excellent size, Jennings brings a tough, hard-nosed style to short-yardage and goal-line scenarios. His physical profile gives the offensive unit reliable depth and an effective early-down option when resting the starting tailbacks. He also returns kicks which adds value.

Jam Miller, 5’10”, 211, Alabama: Miller arrives as an intriguing rookie option adding deep competition to the backfield room. Boasting SEC pedigree from his collegiate years at Alabama, Miller brings good vision, low center of gravity, and solid pass-catching traits. His balanced Skillset makes him a strong contender to earn a roster spot as a multi-role reserve.

Lan Larison, 6’0″, 215, UC Davis: Larison brings dual-threat capability from the FCS level to compete in training camp. Known for his pass-catching reliability and open-field agility, Larison projects as a potential third-down contributor who can make plays in space and contribute on special teams coverage units. He missed last season so he will need a strong camp to make the team. His versatility is key.

Myles Montgomery, 5’11” 200, Cincinnati: Montgomery rounds out the training camp depth chart as a rookie fighting for position on the practice squad or back-end roster. Featuring good lateral quickness and solid burst out of his cuts, Montgomery offers dynamic upside in the screen game and special teams return opportunities as camp unfolds.
