The NFLPA report cards have been leaked and the Patriots finished ranked 26th in the league in the player ratings.
The treatment of families and coaching grades improved but the travel grade was an F and the food and dining and the home game field grades were in the D range. It was a harsh reminder that despite winning 17 games and getting to a Super Bowl, this franchise still has a long way to go in some areas.
Mike Vrabel and his staff did a great job on the field and it reflected in the grades. The strength and conditioning staff got a good grade as well but the weight room got a C- which isn’t terrible but not great. That grade should change with the Patriots new team facility debuting later this year.
Team ownership getting a B- is interesting when you consider the fact that Robert Kraft has spent money in recent years and is considered a popular owner with the players.
Food and dining was not good and quite frankly, the food needs to get better. It is a direct reflection of the organization that the players rate the food that low. Again, the hope is this area will improve with the new facility.
Overall, the Patriots showed improvement as expected but more improvement is necessary if the Patriots are going to be a championship level team consistently.
Here are the overall grades.
