The Patriots, Chiefs game slated for Monday night December 18th at Gillette has been flexed to Sunday December 17th at 1 pm.
It is the first time the NFL has ever flexed out a Monday Night Football game. The decision to flex the game is a no brainer considering the fact that the Patriots are 2-9 and not competitive.
Flexing the game out is also embarrassing for Patriots Owner Robert Kraft. To be part of the first Monday Night game to be forced out must really chap Kraft. Especially when you consider the fact that he is one of the power brokers in the league.
The Patriots are no longer a draw and the NFL could ill-afford to keep them in a prime time slot when there is a good chance that they will get blown out by Patrick Mahomes and company.
How the mighty have fallen. Up until last year, the Patriots were good for at least three prime time games. Now they are so bad, they are getting flexed out. It is hard to believe but thus is life in this post Tom Brady work we’re living in.
The Patriots will still be playing the Steelers next Thursday but that is mandatory prime time game that’s locked in as part of the deal with Amazon. It cannot be flexed.
Enjoy that game Patriots fans because other than Thursday night football, the Patriots may not get many if any other prime time games anytime soon.
