Marcus Bryant has played in 55 career games in college with 42 starts. He played four years at Southern Methodist University (2020-23) and one season at Missouri (2024). Started all 13 games at left tackle last season for the Tigers.
Initial Quicks – Comes off the ball with good pace, fits into blocks and resets the line of scrimmage. He’s not a natural bender and it slows his movement off the snap.
Run Block – Fits into blocks, has strong hands and gets inside hand placement. Moves well laterally and covers up five and nine techniques on outside zone. Better lateral blocker than vertical blocker. Gets out of stance high and struggles to bend from the waist down. Gets stood up routinely.
Pass Block – Smooth and fluid pass blocker who gets into his pass set, stays square and strikes quickly at the point of contact. Does a good job of punching, mirroring and resetting. Bryant does have a tendency to lean in pass pro and forward too much which leads to him getting caught off balance.
Pull & Trap – Pulls on crack toss and can get in space, locate and cover up defenders in space. Stays on track off double teams and can latch on and control second level defenders. Balance in space could be an issue for him at time
Use of Hands – Bryant has strong hands, he gets inside hand position and he can lock on and control defenders. Does tend to lose defenders and holds. Some of it is attributed to playing and losing leverage.
Strength – Doesn’t play with enough pop because he comes out of his stance high and ends up being stalled at times. When he’s playing with a low pad level, he is a monster.
Explosion – Sound like a broken record. When he comes off the ball with a low pad level, he plays with good explosion and power. When he doesn’t, he gets walked back and stood up.
Final Thoughts: Bryant has a ton of athletic upside. He is a freakish athlete for his size. He needs to bend better and get stronger. If he does, he could develop into a swing tackle who could make the team. Not being able to bend naturally could be a problem.
