The Patriots were reportedly interested in adding a veteran quarterback and they did that on Thursday adding former Ravens and Cardinals back up quarterback Trace McSorley.

McSorley was drafted by the Ravens in the sixth round of the 2019 Draft out of Penn State. He was a three time All Big -Ten Second Team selection from 2016-2018. McSorley was originally recruited to the school by Bill O’Brien before O’Brien left for the Houston Texans.

McSorley has thrown one touchdown pass and five interceptions in his career. He has primarily been a third string quarterback and that is what he will be expected to be here behind Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe.

The Patriots do not traditionally carry three quarterbacks so it will be interesting to see if McSorley makes the team. Much of that will depend on the health of the team at the end of camp and if any players emerge and make the team.

The team could still draft a quarterback but it is highly unlikely now that they take one before the end of day three. If they take one, they are going to take a flyer on a quarterback they have had high on their board.
