Tom Brady’s long awaited interview with Howard Stern took place yesterday morning. After an hour plus of chatting it up with Stern, we learned that Brady has tried weed, swears, pisses off Giselle and knew that last season was his last with the Patriots.

There were six things that Brady shared that I want to talk about. Here they are.

1. Brady knew 2019 was his last season in New England: Tom Brady told Stern that he knew before last season that 2019 was his last season in New England.

I believe Brady from the standpoint that he probably knew the Patriots weren’t going to commit to him long term beyond one year at a time but to say that he definitely knew he was done in New England is an exaggeration.

You mean to tell me that if the Patriots offered Brady a two year deal slightly below market, he would have turned it down? I don’t think so. He would have come back.

2. Legacy doesn’t matter to Brady: I don’t buy it. Legacy matters to all athletes especially the great ones. Brady cares about his legacy. He didn’t get what he wanted from the Patriots so he chose to move on. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about his legacy.

3. Cried at Kraft’s house: Brady told Stern that he cried at owner Robert Kraft’s house the night he told him he wasn’t coming back to New England.

I believe it. Kraft considers Brady like another son and there is nothing but mutual respect and adoration there. I really believe Brady when he says he wanted to move and start over.

4. Respect and appreciation for Belichick: I wouldn’t expect Brady to say anything else. I am sure he has nothing but respect and appreciation for Bill Belichick. I also think he was ready for a change and the opportunity to be coached by someone else and that’s why he chose to move on.

5. Brady and Giselle has marital problems: Brady told Stern that the reason he didn’t attend OTA’s in 2018 was because his wife Gisele Bundchen wanted him to be home more and spend time with his family. Brady said that she was not happy with him.

Look, I believe him when he says that but that wasn’t the only reason he skipped OTA’s and workouts. He also wanted a new contract and sitting out was his way of sending the Patriots a message. It wasn’t all because of Gisele.

5. Brady tried weed and alcohol in high school: I cannot say I am surprised. Most high school kids experiment during their teenage years. Brady is no different. I am sure he tried both but didn’t want to piss off his father so he stayed away from both substances long term. He turned to avocado ice cream as a means of relaxation.
