Patriots Draft: Wide Receiver Scouting Reports

On paper, the Patriots don’t have a glaring need at wide receiver. That is why I am not listing the top in this class in my scouting reports because unless one falls at 23 and is too good a value to pass up, they are not going to take one early. Day two and three however are a different story. Here are my scouting reports for the ten receivers I……

By Kevin Stone/@kstone06/@newftbj It’s day two of New England Football Journal’s extra draft content as we look back with “This day in draft history,” and April 21st is a pretty good one. APRIL 21, 1991 The Marriott Marquis in New York was the site for the 1991 draft and those in attendance that day saw quite a few memorable, impact players selected on day one and throughout the weekend. Russell…

Patriots: Patriots trade Rob Gronkowski and a seventh round pick to the Buccaneers for a 4th round pick

In a completely unexpected trade this afternoon, former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski ended his retirement and was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to reunite with Tom Brady. Bill Belichick sent Gronkowski and a seventh round pick to Tampa Bay for a fourth round pick. Pick #117 to be exact. The deal was surprising, especially when you consider that Gronkowski was pretty adamant last spring that he was done….

Patriots point-counterpoint: The Patriots unveil new uniforms

All images courtesy of the New England Patriots. The Patriots unveiled new uniforms yesterday for the first time in 20 years. The design is based on the color rush uniforms the team has been wearing the past two years. https://twitter.com/patriots/status/1252208215867211781?s=21 The reception to the new threads has been mixed at best. Patriots Draft: The second round has been a tale of two decades for Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick gets a lot of flack for the way he has drafted in the second round but upon further review, you can make the argument that the players he has drafted in the second round can be tiered into two decades. 2000 to 2010 and 2011 to 2019. Let’s start with 2000 to 2010. Here is who Belichick drafted in the second round during that time period. 2000: Adrian……

Patriots Draft: Belichick’s first round success in the draft is a big reason for the Patriots sustained success

Bill Belichick has virtually hit on every first round pick in his 20 year tenure in New England. Dominique Easley aside, Belichick has owned the first round of the NFL Draft. Which is why Patriots fans get so aggravated when he trades out of the first round. The Patriots have the 23rd pick in this year’s draft and have multiple needs. Belichick has never drafted for need per say. That……

Patriots Draft: Quarterback Scouting Reports

The Patriots have turned the page on the Tom Brady era after 20 seasons. It is hard to believe that another quarterback will be the face of the organization moving forward but that is the reality of professional sports today. The Patriots have the 23rd pick in the first round so it is highly unlikely that anyone of the top four quarterbacks in the class will be available to them…….
