NFL At Large: Week 8 Preview and Picks

It’s a battle of two future stars as the Cowboys host the Eagles on SNF.

Week 8 features another game in London between the Redskins and Bengals and huge Sunday Night match-up between the Eagles and the Cowboys. Here is our preview and picks.

Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) vs. Washington Redskins (4-3): I thought the Redskins were for real until they lost to the Lions last week. That’s a bad loss.

I like the Bengals in this game. I know they are banged up and have been inconsistent but the Redskins are banged up as well and they are struggling right now on offense.

Prediction: Bengals 24 Redskins 17

Kansas City Chiefs (4-3) at Indianapolis Colts (3-4): The Chiefs are back on track after beating the Raiders and Saints on back to back weeks. The Colts are coming off a big win in Tennessee last weekend but there is still something that bugs me with them.

I’m not buying Andrew Luck right now and I’m not buying Indy’s inconsistent offense and bad defense. I think the Chiefs will make it three in a row with a win at the oil drum.

Prediction: Chiefs 28 Colts 20

Oakland Raiders (5-2) at Tampa Bay Bucs (3-3): The Raiders are back in Florida again this week and just like last week, I expect them to win this game. Tampa has won two in a row but I don’t see them making it three in a row. Oakland’s offense will pose a real challenge to a defense that struggles to defend the pass.

I think Derek Carr will throw all over the Buccos and the Raiders will pick up their sixth win of the season.

Seattle Seahawks (4-1-1) at New Orleans Saints (2-4): The Seahawks are still smarting after an 6-6 tie with the Cardinals last Sunday night. They’ll take out their frustration on a Saints team that can still score points at home but plays terrible defense.

I’m picking the Seahawks to beat the Saints in a shootout.

Prediction: Seahawks 38 Saints 31

Detroit Lions (4-3) at Houston Texans (4-3): The Lions have quietly won three in a row. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is playing at an MVP caliber level and he doesn’t appear to miss Calvin Johnson.

The Texans on the other hand can only win at home. They have been awful on the road this season. The NFL is a trend league.I see the Texans continuing their trend of dominating at home. I like Houston in what should be a close game.

Prediction: Texans 20 Lions 17

New York Jets (2-5) at Cleveland Browns (0-7): The schedule maker did the Jets a solid here. They needed a winnable game to build some momentum after last week’s win against Baltimore.

The Jets will make it two in a row against a Browns team that doesn’t appear to be good enough to win a game and is staring at 0-16 squarely in the face.

Prediction: Jets 28 Browns 24

New England Patriots (6-1) at Buffalo Bills (4-3): The Patriots lone loss of the season was a 16-0 loss to the Bills at home. New England didn’t have Tom Brady that day. They do this week and Brady and the Pats will get some revenge by smacking Buffalo in the mouth.

The Bills lost an ugly game in Miami last week and things are about to get uglier for Rex Ryan’s team. Pats roll in this one.

Prediction: Patriots 31 Bills 17

Arizona Cardinals (3-3-1) at Carolina Panthers (1-5): It’s a tale of two teams. The Panthers desperately need a win. The Cardinals are trying to forget that they tied the Seahawks last Sunday night. Both teams face a must win situation.

I am taking the Red Birds in this one. I think the Panthers are what their record says they are. A bad football team.

San Diego Chargers (3-4) at Denver Broncos (5-2): The Chargers beat the Broncos two weeks ago. This is a big game for both teams, especially San Diego.

The Broncos will be playing without CJ Anderson but rookie Devonte Booker is ready to assume a larger role in the offense and he will.

Denver will run the ball with some success and the defense will play well against Rivers and the Chargers offense. I like the Broncos in this one.

Prediction: Broncos 27 Chargers 17

Green Bay Packers (4-2) at Atlanta Falcons (4-3): All of a sudden this is a big game for both teams. The Packers got their mojo back last week offensively against the Bears but that was the Bears.

The Falcons are much better, especially on defense. That being said, I think the Packers will move the ball. It’s their defense that will struggle in this game.

That’s why I’m taking Atlanta in this game. I can’t see the Packers defense, with all of their injuries stopping the Falcons offense.

I’ve got the dirty birds in this one.

Prediction: Falcons 38 Packers 28

Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) at Dallas Cowboys (5-1): It’s a battle of the up comers as Carson Wentz and the Eagles travel to Dallas to battle Dak Prescott, Ezkiel Elliot and the Cowboys.

The Eagles beat the Vikings at home last week while the Cowboys are coming off of a bye.

This game will be a back and forth affair and the two young quarterbacks will play a big part  in determining who wins it.

It’s hard to pick against Dallas right now. Prescott is doing a good job of managing the game, they are running the football and they are playing good defense.

That’s why I am taking the Cowboys in this game. They have found a way to win games this season keeping it simple. I don’t see this game being any different.

Prediction: Cowboys 28 Eagles 17

Minnesota Vikings (5-1) at Chicago Bears (1-6): The Vikings will get back in the win column against a listless Bears team that’s on its way to another top five pick in the draft.

Prediction: Vikings 31 Bears 17
