NFL At Large: Week 6 Preview and Predictions

Week 6 is upon us and the big story is the return of Colin Kaepernick as the starting quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners need a spark and they are hoping Kaepernick give it to them.

San Francisco 49ers (1-4) at Buffalo Bills (3-2): The 49ers had to go to Colin Kaepernick at quarterback. Blaine Gabbert was awful the last two weeks.

Will Kaepernick make a difference for the Niners offense? Possibly but it won’t be today. The Bills will blitz the heck out of him and put a lot of pressure on him.

The Bills will make it three in a row with a big win versus the Niners.

Prediction: Bills 28 49ers 17

Philadelphia Eagles (3-1) at Washington Redskins (3-2): Carson Wentz and the Eagles came back to earth loss week in a loss to the Lions. I think Philly bounces back today against a Redskins front that doesn’t generate pressure or covers well.

The Eagles will get consistent pressure on Kirk Cousins and shut down a Redskins offense that is talented but inconsistent.

Prediction: Eagles 24 Redskins 17

Cincinnati Bengals (2-3) at New England Patriots (4-1): The Bengals have started off sluggish in 2016, especially on offense. They have yet to score more than 23 points in a game this season.

Tom Brady plays his first home game since returning from his four game suspension and he will want to put on a show.

Brady will have a big day against a Bengals defense that gives up big plays and struggles to get off the field on third down.

Prediction: Patriots 38 Bengals 21

Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) at Miami Dolphins (1-4): This game will be over by halftime. The Dolphins are a mess right now. Head coach Adam Gase cut three offensive lineman on Monday. That’s not good considering the Dolphins can’t protect Ryan Tannehill.

Pittsburgh will play a complete game in all three phases and squish the fish in this one.

Prediction: Steelers 45 Dolphins 24

Los Angeles Rams (3-2) at Detroit Lions (2-3): The Lions are wildly inconsistent on both sides of the ball. I would love to pick them in this game but you have no idea which team will show up.

The Rams are coming off of an ugly loss to the Bills last week. They need to get Todd Gurley going. Gurley has been a non factor thus far this season today. I think that changes today.

Gurley will have a big game and the Rams will get a big road win in Detroit.

Prediction: Rams 21 Lions 17

Baltimore Ravens (3-2) at New York Giants (2-3): What has happened to the Ravens? They can’t score and the defense can’t get stops in the second half of games.

Baltimore will have its hands full against a Giants team that has lost three in a row and is desperate for a win.

That is why I am picking the Giants in this game. I think they will come to play and they’ll send the struggling Ravens to a third straight loss.

Prediction: Giants 24 Ravens 17

Carolina Panthers (1-4) at New Orleans (1-3): The Panthers are desperate. They need to win today or else their season could be over.

Cam Newton is back and I think he will play well against what is statistically the league’s worst defense.

The Panthers get a much needed win and in turn they’ll get back on track in what has been a tough season thus far.

Prediction: Panthers 31 Saints 28

Cleveland Browns (0-5) at Tennessee Titans (2-3): The Browns are disgusting right now. Talk about a mess. Do you think Hue Jackson regrets taking the Browns job now? I think so.

Titans coach Mike Mularkey should kiss the schedule makers because the Browns are coming to town at the right time.

The Titans will roll the Browns and get back to .500.

Prediction: Titans 28 Brown 17

Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3) at Chicago Bears (1-4): The Bears have been better offensively with Brian Hoyer under center than with Jay Cutler.

Offense hasn’t been the problem for the Bears this season. It’s been the defense which has been awfully generous.

The Bears will give up some points today against a talented Jaguars offense but the Bears offense will also have a big day against the underachieving Jags defense. The Bears will pick up their second win of the season today.

Prediction: Bears 28 Jaguars 24

Atlanta Falcons (4-1) at Seattle Seahawks (3-1): The Falcons have been impressive thus far in their 4-1 start. Atlanta boasts the NFL’s number one offense.

The Seahawks defense will have their hands full against Matt Ryan and this Falcons offense but they have found their swagger again and they’ll give the Falcons all they can handle.
This will be a tight game. I’m on the Falcons bandwagon. I am going to pick them to beat the Seahawks in Seattle.
Prediction: Falcons 20 Seahawks 17

Dallas Cowboys (4-1) at Green Bay Packers (3-1): The Cowboys are for real folks. I know a lot of people aren’t buying them because of their schedule but they are a legit 4-1 team.

Dallas needs a statement win and I think they will get it against a Packers team that is playing well defensively but has struggled at times offensively.
I like the Cowboys in this game. Dak Prescott and Zeke Elliott are playmakers and they will give the Packers defense problems.
I’m going with the Boys in this game.
Prediction: Cowboys 28 Packers 24

Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) at Oakland Raiders (4-1): The Chiefs are coming off of a buy. They need a win in the worst way but it won’t be easy against a Raiders team that is explosive offensively but can be generous defensively.

Both offenses will play well today. This game will come down to the defenses. Which ever defense gets stops in the second half, will lead their team to victory.

I like the Raiders in this game. I’m buying Derek Carr and company big time.

Prediction: Raiders 31 Chiefs 17

Indianapolis Colts (2-3) at Houston Texans (3-2): Both teams have been disappointing thus far. The Colts are inconsistent on both sides of the ball and are lucky to have two wins.
Houston has looked good in three wins and awful in two losses. Neither team is a legitimate contender in my opinion.

So who wins? The Texans. They are at home. That’s who wins.

Prediction: Texans 21 Colts 17

New York Jets (1-4) at Arizona Cardinals (2-3): The Jets are banged up and out of whack right now. The Cardinals aren’t exactly lightning the world on fire either but they are at a better place than the Jets and they are at home.

That’s why I am picking the Cardinals. They are getting the hapless Jets at the right time. Red Birds win!

Prediction: Cardinals 28 Jets 24
