NFL At Large: Thanksgiving Preview and Picks

The best football day of the year is upon us! It’s Thanksgiving day. The Lions and Cowboys are playing in two big divisional games. The Steelers and the Colts are playing tonight. It should be a great day of football.

Here are my Thanksgiving Day picks.

11/24 12:30 ET At Detroit -1 Minnesota 41.5 -$120 +$100: The Vikings got a much needed home win over the Cardinals on Sunday, setting up this important NFC North showdown.

At 6-4, both teams hold a two game lead over the struggling Packers. The winner of this game will not only take over the division lead but they’ll be in the drivers seat to win the division.

The Lions have traditionally been a good take at home on Thanksgiving as a favorite. I’m picking them in this game because they are at home and because they are playing better than the Vikings right now.

I like Detroit by a field goal.

11/24 4:30 ET At Dallas -7 Washington 52 -$330 +$270: The Cowboys are 9-1 and could essentially clinch the division today with a win. They still have divisional games left with the Giants and Eagles but they would have a two game lead over the rest of the division with five weeks to play.

Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott have been the story for Dallas but their defense has been the real revelation.

The Cowboys are only giving up 18.7 points per game. While they might not have a lot of star power defensively, Dallas plays great team defense.

They will be challenged by an explosive Redskins offense today that is coming off of a 42 point performance against Green Bay on Sunday.

This will be a high scoring affair but it’s tough to pick against the Cowboys at this point. They’ve won nine in a row. That’s why I’m picking the Skins as a road dog. I think Dallas will win but only by three points.

11/24 8:30 ET Pittsburgh -9 At Indianapolis 48 -$440 +$340: No Luck, no chance for the Colts tonight. Pittsburgh needs to get on a little winning streak tonight and with Andrew Luck out, they should win their second straight game.

Being a 9 point road favorite is a bit ridiculous but the Steelers should cover. Scott Tolzien is starting for the Colts for crips sake. That should be enough reason to take the Steelers this game.
