NFL At Large: Four Downs with Doc.

st Down: The Broncos Trade for Mark Sanchez: The ass man is not a bad pick up for Denver. He can be a stop gap starter in 2016 or be the back up depending on who else John Elway brings in. Either way, Sanchez gives Denver a veteran quarterback who is an upgrade over the immortal Trevor Siemian. The Broncos still need another quarterback and that quarterback could come via the draft.

nd Down: Browns Cut Manziel: This is the best decision the Browns have made in a long time. We all knew they were going to cut Manziel which is why  I don’t know why they waited so long? I will go on record as saying that Manziel will not play in 2016. His life is a mess. He needs a year away from the game so that he can get some help and turn his life around.

rd Down: Bucs Sign Grimes and Ayers: The Tampa Bay Bucs signed veteran corner Brent Grimes to a two year, $16 million dollar contract and defensive end Robert Ayers to a three year, $21 million dollar deal. I like both players despite the fact that the Bucs had to overpay to get them. Both are in their prime and should be a good fit in the Bucs 4-3 defense. Tampa’s pass rush was awful last season. Ayers will help juice it up. The secondary wasn’t any better but the addition of Grimes gives Tampa a veteran corner who can play opposite Alterrrean Verner.

th Down: Prince is Coming to Jacksonville: The Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran cornerback Prince Amukamara to a one year deal today. Mr. Coming to America never lived up to the hype with the Giants but he’s a good enough player that taking a chance on him on a one year deal is not the worst thing in the world. The addition of Amukamara and safety Tashaun Gipson should help solidify one of the worst secondaries in the league. Jacksonville’s back seven was awful last season.
