NFL At Large: Doc’s Thoughts on Day Two of Free Agency.

Janoris Jenkins headlines a busy first day of free agency for the Giants.

1. Brock Osweiler left Denver because the Texans offered him more money. I don’t buy that he took being benched at the end of last season personal. Money talks, Brock walks!

2. If I were John Elway, I would make Tampa Bay an offer for Mike Glennon. He’s young and I think he’s a better fit for Gary Kubiak’s offense than Colin Kaepernick or RG3. He’s not as mobile as them but he’s a better pocket passer.

3. Doug Martin was overpaid by the Bucs but there is no way on earth the “Dougernaut” will see all $35 million dollars of that deal, its not going to happen.

4. I told you the Patriots weren’t going to land Matt Forte. More years and money are the reason he ended up with the Jets. The Patriots are in no position to offer outside players long term deals.

5. The Giants committed over $200 million dollars yesterday to J.P.P, Damon Harrison, Janoris Jenkins and Olivier Vernon. If they don’t have a top ten defense next season, then they spent money on the wrong guys.

6. The Texans signing Lamar Miller was one of the best pick ups of the day. The 26 year old is just scratching the surface. He had the potential to put up big numbers in Bill O’Brien’s offense.

7. The Oakland Raiders gave Sean Smith a four year, $40 million dollar deal. $10 million a season is rich for a player like Smith but he’s only 28, so its not a bad deal on the surface. Oakland needed to address their secondary. They were going to have to over pay for corner help.
