New facility allows Patriots’ front office more efficient draft process

The New Balance Athletics Center is a beautiful new building for both the staff and players right next door to Gillette Stadium.

Whether it’s the new enormous locker room, a completely upgraded weight room, meeting rooms attached to indoor fields or the gorgeous cafeteria, it’s exactly what an NFL team should have.

Frankly, most D1 programs now have what the Patriots are using in Foxborough.

But, one room that the media didn’t get to see on a tour last week that might just be the most important room in the building is the draft war room.

This of course was the first draft where the staff was able to use its extremely technologically advanced room. I asked Eliot Wolf at the conclusion of the draft is the room clearly provided some more efficiency for everyone involved.

“Oh yeah, absolutely,” he said. “First of all, the flow was great. The technology is unbelievable, compared to the magnets that we used to have. There were a couple times during the draft where we were kind of talking about different players later in the draft. Should we draft this guy? Should we draft that guy?

“You can actually pull up the film, click on the guy’s profile, pull up the film right there, watch his pro day, watch some key plays and just try to hone in on the right decision for us. So, all in all, it was tremendous.”

Particularly without Mike Vrabel in the building on Saturday, it sure sounds like the new digs served the staff very well for the final few rounds of the draft.
