What a finish to the 2024 FCS regular season.

As always, check out our college stories on the site from this past weekend. But, for the ones we couldn’t get to, here’s a run down of everything else that happened…

Holy Cross wins share of 6th straight Patriot League title

Thanks to a dominant 34-0 win over Georgetown, Dan Curran got his first piece of a league championship and Holy Cross got a share of its sixth straight Patriot League title.

Holy Cross finished 6-6 overall and 5-1 in the league, tied with Lehigh, who got the league’s automatic postseason berth.

“So proud of this group,” Curran told NEFJ. “Graduated all the big names over the last few years and had one of the toughest schedules in the Northeast and they never flinched, no matter what.”

This finale against the Hoyas was a running game clinic. The Crusaders rushed for 191 yards as a team, led by 135 on 23 carries and two touchdowns from Jayden Clearveaux. Sam Slade added 11 for 42. Holy Cross threw the ball just 16 times. Joe Pesansky was 8-16 for 100 yards and two interceptions with a touchdown to Byron Shipman. The Crusaders held the ball for 34:42 and held Georgetown to 184 yards of offense.

Dartmouth captures share of Ivy League title for second straight year

With Harvard’s loss to Yale and Dartmouth’s 56-28 beatdown of Brown on Saturday, the Big Green clinched a share of the Ivy League championship for the second straight year under Sammy McCorkle.

Dartmouth finishes 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the ultra competitive Ivy.

The Big Green led 7-0 after one and 21-14 at the half thanks to 13-yard, 35-yard and 20-yard TD passes from Jackson Proctor to Grayson O”Bara, Painter Richards-Baker and Chris Corbo. Brown hung around with a two-yard Jake Wilcox TD run and a one-yard run from Ty Holz.

Proctor kept it rolling in the third with two more touchdowns to O’Bara (72-yards), Jordan Washington (57-yards) and then a 75-yard TD run of his own. James Murphy found Ty Pezza and Levi Linowes for touchdowns to keep the Bears within 14 heading to the fourth. Proctor capped off his monster day with two more short TD runs.

In total, Proctor finished 18-36 for 308 yards and four touchdowns through the air. On the ground, he had 13 carries for 172 yards and three touchdowns.

UNH reclaims Brice-Cowell Musket & playoff berth

Not only did UNH hold Maine to under 200 yards of offense in a 27-9 win to take the Brice-Cowell Musket, but it locked up an at-large playoff bid for the Wildcats.

UNH (8-4, 6-2 CAA) earned the No. 16 seed and a home game next Saturday against UT Martin with the win.

Seth Morgan was 22-34 for 164 yards and an interception, but Caleb Mead carried the offense with 113 yards and a touchdown on the ground. UNH held the ball for just under 40 minutes while the Wildcat defense also held Maine (5-7, 3-5 CAA) 0-9 on third downs and just 39 rushing yards.

The Black Bears got a 12-25, 168-yard, one touchdown day from Carter Peevy. The one TD went to Montigo Moss, who had five catches for 50 yards.

If UNH can win its first playoff game since 2022, the Wildcats earn a trip to No. 1 Montana State.

UConn comes up short against Syracuse

In its first legitimate hostile road atmosphere since September, UConn hung with Syracuse all day, but ultimately fell 31-24.

The Huskies are still 7-4 with the season finale against UMass this weekend before going bowling for the second time in three years.

Joe Fagnano was 27-48 for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Cam Edwards had 87 yards on eight carries, including a 71-yard TD run. Skyler Bell led the Huskies receivers with 10 catches for 113 yards, but it was TJ Sheffield (10/52) and Louis Hansen (2/33) who caught touchdowns.

Kyle McCord threw for 470 yards and two touchdowns for the Orange.

UMass hangs tough with Georgia after wild week

After the dismissal of Don Brown and the ugly cancelling and then un-cancelling of Senior Day festivities, UMass finally played a football game and surprisingly hung very tough with Georgia for a while before ultimately losing 59-21.

AJ Hairston was 7-16 for 121 yards and a touchdown while Ahmad Haston was 1-1 for four yards. Haston also had three carries for 50 yards as part of a 226-yard rushing attack for the Minutemen. Jalen John had nine carries for 107 yards and a touchdown and CJ Hester added 15 for 74 and a score.

Hester actually gave UMass a 7-0 lead early to cap a 10-play drive. Georgia scored 21 unanswered before a three-yard TD run for John to make it 21-14. UGA scored again in the final minute to take a 28-14 halftime lead. Jakobie-Kenney James reeled in a 75-yard TD from Hairston to cut it to 31-21 in the third before the Bulldogs pulled away.

Merrimack finishes on a high note with win over Fordham

Mike Gennetti’s first season was a bit of a roller coaster ride, but the Warriors closed out a 5-6 season with a dominant defensive effort in a 19-3 win on the road over Fordham.

Ayden Pereira was 12-15 for 131 yards and a touchdown along with 17 carries for 136 yards on the ground. Jermaine Corbett added 42 yards and a TD run on 19 carries. Jalen McDonald had four catches for 67 yards and a score.

Merrimack’s defense forced two turnovers and held the Rams to an outrageous 31 yards of offense with -29 net rushing yards.

Stonehill drops season finale

The Skyhawks closed out an ugly 1-10 campaign with a 31-13 loss to Robert Morris.

Drew Eason was 11-32 for 128 yards. Jarel Washington had 70 yards on 19 carries and Brigham Dunphy had five catches for 52 yards.
