NEFJ Transfer Portal Tracker

It was a busy day in New England College football on November 21 as several players in the area announced that they have entered the transfer portal.

Most of the players are from Patriot League and Ivy League schools. They graduate students who have exhausted their eligibility at their current school but still have a year of eligibility that they can use elsewhere. 

Here are the players who have entered the portal and where they could end up. We will update the list as more players enter the portal. 

Boston College

Cam’ron Barfield, RB, 5-6 184

Barfield hasn’t played as much as expected but he still has two years of eligibility and his versatility and his ability as a receiver will make him an appealing change of pace option.

Shitta Sillah, DE, 6-4 253

Sillah enters the portal as a grad transfer. He has multiple years of experience and he offers scheme versatility as he can play in a 30 and 40 front and be effective.

Pat Garwo, RB, 

Brown

Treyvon Hobbs, S, 5-11 190

Hobbs is versatile. He can play corner or safety. Ideally suited to play inside, Hobbs had a good year for the Bears. He has good ball skills and does a good job of plastering down field and staying in phase. 

Terrance Lane II, EDGE, 6-3 240

Lane can rush the passer but can also drop into coverage. He has enough athleticism to play in space and match-up with backs in man coverage. He primarily rushed the passer for the Bears. The Michigan native was very productive the past two seasons. He finished with 50 tackles, 12.5 TFL’s and 7.5 sacks.

Graham Walker, WR, 6-3 215

Big receiver who runs clean, easy routes and can separate at the top. Walker has strong hands and has proven he can win one on one over the top in red zone situations. Walker profiles as an X receiver but he can play in the slot as well in certain personnel groupings. Walker finished his career at Brown with 127 catches, 1,496 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Aubrey Parker, CB, 5-10 185

Parker had a solid season in 2023 finishing with 51tackles, two tackles for loss, three interceptions and 10 pass breakups. Parker can play outside, in the slot or even line up as a third safety in certain packages.

Bryant

Lake Ellis, CB, 6-0 180

Ellis has good length, is smooth in his drops and plays with good recognition skills. He does a good job of reading routes and planting and driving on the ball. Ellis has started and played in sub packages for the Bulldogs. Ellis finished his career with 130 tackles, 6 interceptions and 19 pass break-ups.

Ethan Gettman, K, 6-4 190

Gettman made 23 of 34 field goal attempts and 78 of 82 extra point attempts in his career. He has a career long of 56 yards.

Central Connecticut State

Isiah Williams, WR, 5-10 185

Williams is coming off of a season in which he caught 37 passes for 487 yards and 5 touchdowns. He can play in the slot or line outside at the X depending on the formation and personnel grouping. He is a clean route runner who gets in and out of cuts and has consistent hands. He can be a good addition to a program as second or third receiver and complement a skill group well.

Harold Miles, LB, 6-0 240

Terrific size. Miles can play the SAM or MIKE linebacker spot. Three down versatility is a big part of his game. He has played in all situations for the Blue Devils. During his time at CCSU, he finished with 131 tackles, 10.5 TFL’s, 3.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 INT’s.

Dartmouth

Macklin Ayers, LB, 6-3 235

Ayers is one of the best linebackers in the Ivy League. He has good size, plays with good instincts and athleticism. He can play all three downs and do a variety of things within a defense. In his last 18 games, he has amassed 159 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT and 5 PD’s. 

Leonard St. Gourdin, S, 6-3 205

St. Gourdin can play free safety or match up in the slot in sub packages. The Malden, Massachusetts native played at Deerfield Academy and has started and played on special teams for Big Green. He finished the 2023 season with 48 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 8 passes defended.

Charles Looes, DE, 6-3 275

One of the best defensive players in the Ivy League, Looes is a classic five technique defensive end who plays with good power and speed. Looes has already accumulated several Power 5 offers and he will pick up multiple offers by the time he decides where to play next.

Harvard 

Tyler Neville, TE, 6-4 235

Neville is your classic move tight end who can align anywhere in a formation and generate one on one match-ups. He would be ideally suited as a U at another in 12 personnel packages. In his career at Harvard, Neville caught 62 passes for 698 yards and 8 touchdowns. 

Jacob Rizy, OT, 6-4 305

The Connecticut native has been a two year starter for the Crimson. He can play guard or tackle at his next school. Smart, tough and athletic, Rizy can step in and start from day one. 

Matt Hudson, LB, 6-3 230

Hudson has been very productive the past two season racking up 116 tackles, 10 TFL’s, 2 sacks, 1 INT, 6 PD’s and 1 forced fumble. He plays with good pad leverage and instincts. He does a good job of locating the ball and finishing on contact. Hudson is experienced and a good player. He should garner a fair amount of interest in the portal.

Caleb Moody, CB, 5-10 191

Moody had a good season for the Crimson. He finished with 57 tackles, 2 TFL’s, 2 INT’s and 7 passes defended. He is athletic, can play press man or off-coverage and he does a good job of staying in phase in downfield coverage. Moody can play outside or in the slot.

Tyler Huenemann, DT, 6-3 283

The Michigan native can play defensive end and kick inside to defensive tackle in sub packages. He good off the ball quickly and can play along the line of scrimmage and make plays from the back side. Has some twitchiness to his game. Huenemann finished with 51 tackles, 10 TFL’s and 6 sacks over the past two seasons.

Spencer Cassell, OT, 6-6 300

Cassell is athletic and has good length. He moves well laterally and can get out in front on toss plays. Cassell can play tackle or kick inside to guard depending on the scheme. A high I.Q player with one year of eligibility left.

Holy Cross

Matthew Sluka, QB, 6-3 216

What can you say about Sluka. He has been one of the best players at the FCS level the past two years and a Walter Payton Award Finalist. Sluka threw for 5,916 yards and 59 touchdown passes. He rushed while for 3,583 yards and 38 touchdowns. A true dual threat quarterback who has the resume and the physical tools to be a starter at his next school. 

Jacob Dobbs, LB, 6-0 237

Dobbs has been one of the best linebackers at the FCS level the past three years despite missing the 2022 season. Dobbs plays with terrific instincts and he is physical. He can play MIKE or SAM in a defensive front. He had a big season in 2023 finishing with 123 tackles, 12 TFL, 6 sacks and 3 FF in 9 games. For his career, Dobbs totaled 432 tackles, 46.5 TFL, 22.5 sacks, 4 INT, 4 FF and 8 PD’s. 

Eric Schon, OG, 6-3 311

Schon started 24 games for the Crusaders and was one of the linchpins of the offensive line. He can play guard or center at his next school. He plays with good fundamentals and toughness and is a high I.Q player. 

Terrance Spence, CB, 6-2 200

Long and rangy athlete who formed one of the top cornerback tandems in the country along with Devin Haskins. Spence has good hands and feet. He does a good job of staying in phase and playing the ball in one on one situations. He could play safety as well. This past season he finished with 52 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 INT and 6 PD’s 

Patrick Haughney, P, 6-2 227

Haughney was the best punter in the Patriot League and one of the best in FCS. He has a big leg and does a good job with directional punting. He will garner plenty of interest in the portal. 

New Hampshire

Max Brosmer, QB, 6-2 195

Brosmer led the nation in passing in 2023. He is coming off two record setting seasons at UNH. He is a pocket style passer but he is also athletic and plays the game with a high I.Q. Brosmer has plus arm talent and is accurate. He holds several offers, most notably from Minnesota who appears the favorite to land him.

Nathan Kapango, DT, 6-4 280

Big, wide bodied shade defensive tackle who can also play the three technique. Kapango has two years of eligibility left.

Dylan Ruiz, DE, 6-1 247

Productive edge rusher who can play in a two and a three point stance. Ruiz put up good numbers at UNH and has a year eligibility.

Sacred Heart

Carson Primrose, DT, 6-2 280

Primrose has been one of the best defensive players in the NEC the past two seasons. Quick off the ball, he plays with strong hands and leverage. He moves well laterally and can make plays down the line. In his last 22 games, Primrose totaled 78 tackles, 14 TFL and 6 sacks. He already has offers from URI and Maine. 

Samuel Renzi, K, 6-0 180

Renzi is a consistent kicker, especially from inside the forty. He has the leg strength to place the ball inside the 20 on kickoffs and he has enough leg to connect from 50 plus. He spent four years at Sacred Heart.

L.J Haskett, WR, 5-9 170

Virginia native is a slot receiver and special teams prospect. Haskett has three years of eligibility left.

Malik Grant, RB, 5-9

Stonehill

Chris Domercant, WR, 6-2 190

Domercant is a long, athletic target who runs smooth, clean routes and can separate vertically. He has good hands, especially in jump ball situations. Plays with good body control when high pointing the ball in the red zone. He would be a solid edition to a team that is looking for a productive X receiver. He can play in the slot as well.

Jermaine Corbett, RB, 5-8 195

Corbett put up big numbers at Stonehill. He was a two time all NEC selection, six time Offensive Player of the Week and even won FCS Player of the Week once. Corbett would be ideally suited as a change of pace back in a timeshare although he has proven he can carry the load. Effective in the passing game as well as a receiver. For his career, Corbett rushed for 2,062 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Tom Comella, WR, 5-8 170

Comella has three years of eligibility. He can play in the slot and he returns kicks as well.

UConn

Justin Joly, TE, 6-3 215

Joly is your classic move tight end who can generate match-ups in the passing game. He is a good route runner and he can seperate one on one and has enough explosion that he can extend plays. Joly led the Huskies in receiving. Joly has two years of eligibility left.

Malik Williams-Dixon, S, 6-0 203

Williams-Dixon can play safety or cornerback. His versatility will appeal to teams in the portal. Williams-Dixon did suffer a broken arm against Sacred Heart. He has two years of eligibility left.

UMass

Jonny Hassard, OT, 6-6 310

Hassard has plenty of experience having started the past two years. He profiles as a more as a right tackle but could kick inside to guard as well.

Shawn Harris, WR, 5-9 170

Slot type receiver who can also return kicks. Has special teams value as well.

Michael Oppong, LB, 6-0 195

Can play in three safety looks and sub packages. Oppong also offers special teams value as well.

Yale

Jonathan Mendoza, OT, 6-9 310

Mendoza has been dominate the past two years. He has been one of the best offensive tackles in the country at any level. He is all of 6-9 and he is athletic and moves well in space both in the run game and as a pass blocker. Once he enters the portal, Mendoza will garner a lot of Power 5 interest and could hit 15-20 offers plus by the time he makes a decision.

Hamilton Moore, LB, 6-0 230

Moore has been super productive the past two seasons finishing with 114 total tackles, 5 TFL’s, 1.5 sacks, 6 INT’s and 9 passes defended. He can play all three downs, he is smooth athletically and can match up underneath in coverage. Moore plays with good instincts and jumps his keys quickly as a run defender.

Vaughn Joseph, LB, 6-3 238

Big, rugged SAM backer type who plays the game at a high level mentally and is physically. Joseph finished with 130 tackles, 19 TFL’s, 3 sacks, 4 INT’s, 7 passes defended and 3 forced fumbles. He can play three downs off the ball and come off the edge as well.

Clay Patterson, DE, 6-3 290

One of the best players from New England to enter the portal. Patterson made 30 consecutive starts at Yale and was three time all Ivy League. He finished his career with 111 tackles, 30.5 tackles for loss, 22.5 sacks and one interception. Patterson is already garnering a ton of interest and has picked up several offers. His versatility as a wide nine technique or three technique inside will make an attractive player in the portal.

Wande Owens, CB, 5-11 209

Owens was Yale’s captain last season. He has started for the past two seasons and racked up 165 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 18 passes defended. Owens has experience playing outside and in the slot. He does a good job of staying in phase and he has good ball skills.
