Series Record: Norwood leads 49-40-2
Look at the Rivalry: Norwood and Dedham have been playing for 92 years. The rivalry between the Mustangs and Marauders has been one of the most competitive rivalries in the area through the years.
I have a personal connection to this rivalry. I am a Norwood High School Graduate, Class of 1993. I played in this rivalry and I have coached in this rivalry. I was the head coach at Norwood from 2010-2013. I went 3-1 against the Marauders. The game we lost is one of the best Thanksgiving games I have ever coached in. We had a potential game winning field goal blocked and ended up losing 20-18.
When these two programs get together, it is always competitive. The two communities are very similar and there is a lot of respect between the two schools.
Norwood and Dedham play for the Wall-Toti Trophy named after Frank Wall of Norwood and Sal Toti of Dedham.
Last Thanksgiving, Norwood snapped a three game losing to the Marauders thanks to a 32 yard field from sophomore kicker Anthony Demera with time expiring. The Mustangs prevailed 10-7.
Both programs are led by alumnus. Manny Lopes, who won a super bowl as a player at Norwood leads the Mustangs while the Marauders are coached by Dave Flynn who led Dedham to the 1988 Super Bowl.
