The Merrimack Valley Conference will be putting on a Showcase Day on Wednesday May 21st at 7 pm at Andover High School.
The showcase will feature talent from 11 programs in the conference. It is a good opportunity for some of the top returning players in the MVC to show off what they can do for college coaches.
Andover Coach Jay Fielding says that it is important to come together and showcase the student athletes in the MVC.
“The MVC Showcase is important for the kids to highlight their skills, develop relationships within their own conference as we are bringing the league together as one community on May 21st at Andover High School. This is a great opportunity for kids to gain college visibility and have access to exposure to potential schools that might be the best fit for them.”
Fielding added: “The MVC has a long standing tradition of producing strong student/athletes and our conference is represented by 11 schools. It is one of the most competitive conferences in the state of MA year in and year out, and is a crucial aspect of the growing landscape when it comes to the rise of New England Football recruiting.”
North Andover Coach Matt Cerullo echoed Fielding’s sentiments.
“I think it’s important simply because we have a responsibility to provide opportunities for our athletes to get to the next level. Having a showcase to let colleges see what our conference has is an important thing. We can all work together to promote our athletes and showcase our league.”
The MVC is joining a growing number of public school leagues that are doing showcases. The showcases are a necessity with private and catholic schools hosting their own showcases at around the same time. It is not only important to showcase the players but it is also important to keep them in town as well.
New England Football Journal will have full coverage of all of the local showcase days.
