The Trapilo name has been well-known in these parts for a long time after a stellar career at BC High, but it’s about to be even more nationally-known.
Trapilo is almost a lock to be taken anywhere from late in the first round to early-to-mid second round of the NFL Draft this coming weekend and he’ll be a steal for whoever snags him. At 6’8,” 316lbs., Trapilo has the ability to play both tackle spots at a high level and more importantly, is an ideal locker room guy. Bill O’Brien and teammates have raved about him – and with good reason.
For those that don’t know much about Ozzy, get to know him here, you’ll be hearing the name quite a bit on Sundays in the very near future:
NEFJ: When did you start playing football?
OT: “I started playing football in sixth grade. My mom wanted me to wait until high school, but my sixth grade coach convinced her to let me play early.”
NEFJ: What do you love about the game of football?
OT: “I love the team aspect of football and especially O-line play. Needing all five guys to communicate effectively and work as one to accomplish our goal is what makes it truly special for me.”
NEFJ: What made you decide to commit to BC and more importantly, stay?
OT: “What made me commit to BC was that it had everything I was looking for. Primarily, it has a rich history of O-line culture and it would allow me to pursue my goal of reaching the NFL. Secondly, it is an incredible school that would give me a great degree for whenever football eventually does end. I stayed for the same reasons, the culture and people (football as well as school in general) made it incredibly difficult to even consider leaving and I am glad that I didn’t.”
NEFJ: How much has BC prepared you for the opportunity to play in the NFL?
OT: “BC has prepared me very well for the opportunity to play in the NFL. The plethora of NFL coaches that are on staff at BC got me ready for the next level from experience. Coach Applebaum has done a fantastic job with the O-line preparing us physically as well as mentally, pushing us to learn much more than the minimum to go out there and play. Having an overall understanding of the game has helped me immensely throughout the interview process, so I am very grateful for that.”
NEFJ: When you are not playing football or doing anything football related, what do you like to do off the field?
OT: “I enjoy playing golf off the field. A lot of the O-linemen enjoy golf and we have a great time going out there, being competitive but also just relaxing and having fun.”
NEFJ: What is your favorite pregame meal and hype song?
OT: “My favorite pregame meal is spaghetti meatballs and green beans. Not too much, but a light plate gets me ready to play. For a song I don’t really have a specific pregame song that I play.”
NEFJ: What is an NFL team getting in you if they draft or sign you?
OT: “The team that drafts me is going to get a relentless worker who strives for perfection on and off the field. Someone who attempts to lead by example and makes sure to give maximum effort in everything that I do.”
