Meet your local NFL Draft prospects: Drew Kendall, C, Boston College

If an NFL team is looking for someone who knows what it takes to play center at a high level and a true culture guy, look no further than Drew Kendall.

The former Noble & Greenough standout played 38 games in four years at BC, including 13 each of the last two seasons. Kendall may not bowl teams over with his size, but his football IQ, ability to connect with teammates and his family ties (most everyone knows the name Pete Kendall) should all make him a desirable target at some point this weekend.

For those that don’t know much about BC’s stalwart center, get to know Drew a bit more about him before things kick off on Thursday night:

NEFJ: When did you start playing football?

DK: “I started playing football in the fourth grade, so right around 9 years old. If it was up to me, it would’ve been earlier!”

NEFJ: What do you love about the game of football?

DK: “I’d say I love the mental aspect of football the most. The game teaches you so much about the importance of controlling your emotions, being consistent and staying disciplined over a long course of time that can carry over to all aspects of life. But, by focusing on the mental aspects of the game, you are able to be at an advantage over your opponent if you can recognize certain tendencies and react to them out on the field.”

NEFJ: What made you decide to commit to BC and more importantly, stay?

DK: “BC had everything and more that I wanted out of a school and football program. It checked every box of mine from high academics, competing against the best, coached by the best and being in a place that can prepare you for the next level, as that’s always the goal.”

NEFJ: How much has BC prepared you for the opportunity to play in the NFL?

DK: “Immensely. Can’t thank all the coaches that I spent time learning with enough for how much they did for my development as a player. Being able to learn from Coach Applebaum and Coach Guge specifically really helped me get to this point so far in my career.”

NEFJ: When you are not playing football or doing anything football related, what do you like to do off the field?

DK: “I like to relax and watch sports (Celtics especially), play some Xbox, or go play golf when the weather allows.”

NEFJ: What is your favorite pregame meal and hype song?

DK: “Favorite pre game meal would be pasta with a vegetable and some grilled chicken. Don’t like to go overboard especially with my last meal before a game.”

NEFJ: What is an NFL team getting in you if they draft or sign you?

DK: “They’re going to get a guy who’s focused on getting better every single day. I try to focus on small things each day to improve upon and let the big picture play out. But, overall getting a consistent player thats willing to do whatever it takes to win games.”
