UMass cornerback Arsheen Jiles has had an interesting path to the NFL. After a decorated career at Sacred Heart, Jiles transferred to URI before transferring to UMass. Jiles profiles as a nickel or dime corner who can also play field corner. He has above average coverage skills and ball skills. Jiles finished his career with 5 career interceptions and 94 career tackles.
Get to know cornerback Arsheen Jiles.
NEFJ: When did you start playing football?
AJ: “I started playing football when I was 5 years old.”
NEFJ: What do you love about the game of football?
AJ: ” I love everything about football. Football has played a major factor in who I am today. It’s given me so many life lessons, it’s shown me so much about adversity and being able to get through adversity. The Discipline you get from football helps you out tremendously. The bonds you create with football is one of the best things ever. There’s players and coaches till this day that I love and I know they will always be right there for me! Then with football where you have to count on your brothers that makes it even better because we all win together and we all lose together!”
NEFJ: What made you decide to commit to UMass? Why was the school the right fit for you?
AJ: ” For me, Coach Livingston played a big part in committing to UMass. He coached me My first two years in college at Sacred Heart. Was one of my favorite coaches in college so having the chance to be with him again was great. It was the right school for me because it was preparing me for the next level. From the coaching staff to the players to the teams we played, everything allowed me to grow everyday!”
NEFJ: How much has UMass prepared you for the opportunity to play in the NFL?
AJ: “UMass has prepared me in many ways. Having someone like Coach Brown that’s a legend the knowledge he gives us helped me out a lot. Then playing the games we played we get to play 1st round picks and see where we line up with those guys.”
NEFJ: When you are not playing football or doing anything football related, what do you like to do off the field?
AJ: “When I’m not playing football I’m either playing the game or I’m watching YouTube. I like going outside also especially when the weather is good. Also I recently just started to read again.”
NEFJ: What is your favorite pregame meal and hype song?
AJ: “My favorite pregame meal is some eggs, turkey bacon, and some homes fries. Then have some fruit on the side. I don’t really have a favorite song. For me, I would say anything by Gunna or Meek Mill.”
NEFJ: What is an NFL team getting in you if they draft or sign you?
AJ: “An NFL team is going to get a hardworking player that has a strong work ethic on and off the field. I love working on my craft and improving. Going to be a guy that can do it all and bring energy to where ever I go!”
