The New England Patriots named cornerback and return specialist Marcus Jones as the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Ron Burton Community Service Award. The annual honor represents the organization’s highest individual accolade, celebrating a player’s off-the-field leadership, commitment to philanthropy, and dedication to uplifting the local region. 

Since being drafted in 2022, Jones has built a reputation as one of the NFL’s rare dynamic dynamic three-phase players. However, his impact extends far beyond his speed and versatility on game day. A steady volunteer with the New England Patriots Foundation, Jones regularly gives back by participating in youth football initiatives, supporting military families, visiting local children’s hospitals, and lending a hand to animal rescue activations. 

Beyond participating in team events, Jones co-founded and serves as board chairman for Covered by Music, a foundation that offers creative workshops for underprivileged youth. The non-profit utilizes arts and music education to inspire young minds, helping them build self-expression and practical creative skills. 

Named after Ron Burton—the first player drafted by the franchise in 1960 and a pioneer of community activism—the award puts Jones in elite company alongside former Patriots honorees including Troy Brown, Matthew Slater, and Devin McCourty. Upon receiving the trophy, Jones reflected on the reality that football careers are brief, emphasizing that he wants his legacy defined not just by what he accomplishes while wearing a helmet, but by how he uses his platform to serve others.
