It is time for the Judon contract circus to leave town

Matthew Judon met with the assembled media after Monday’s training camp practice and as usual, the exchange was intresting to say the least.

Judon was initially joined by teammate Jahlani Tavai who was “speaking” on his behalf. Judon was doing his best Marshawn Lynch inpression and didnt want to get fined. Tavai was removed and Judon started answring questions.

When asked why he left practice last Monday, Judon explained after he spoke to head coach Jerod Mayo.

“We had a conversation. I didn’t want to be a distraction to the team, so I went inside,” Judon told reporters. “I wasn’t participating in those drills that day. I went inside and then I got a message so I came back and talked to the GM, our GM. Then I went back inside. Sorry I’m animated. I talk with my hands”

Judon said he wants to finish his career in New England but he acknowledged that decision will ultimately be made by the team and what they decide to do.

“Like I told you all before, I would pay myself and we’d never talk about it. But it’s not up to me,” he said. “I told you all I wanted to stay here the rest of my career.”

Judon did not practice last Tuesday but he returned to  practice on Wednesday and practiced most of last week without any fanfare but over the weekend, he got attention for commenting on an Instagram post about wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s new extension with the Dolphins. Judon commented “Know ya worth”

Judon acknowledged that he loves football but hates the business side of it.

“There’s football and there’s football business. They are two different things.” Judon continued: “I love playing football, I love my teammates. I don’t like the business of football.”

Well if he does not like the business side of things, maybe it is time for Judon to stop seeking attention and put an end to this contract circus he has created.

Judon said he is practicing and playing because he is contractually obligated to. Then maybe he should just do and his situation will take care of itself. He might want to let his play do the talking instead of his mouth.

The Patriots know what Judon can do. They do not need weekly reminders about his contract status. It is time for Judon to act like the professional that he is. Not this petty version we have lately.

It is time for the contract circus to leave town.
