Haverhill is for real and it is time teams in Division 1 North started paying attention.
1.Just when we took St. John’s Prep for granted, the Eagles showed us that they are still one of the elite programs in the state by beating previously unbeaten B.C High 35-17. The Eagles have a stiff test ahead of them this week on the road at B.R where they will face another good back in Shawn Noel.
2. How about those Haverhill Hillies. In a span of two weeks, they have beaten previously undefeated Central Catholic and this week they beat E.J Perry and the high flying Andover Warriors. Haverhill is for real folks and don’t be surprised if they come out of Division 1.
3. King Philip and North Attleboro have distanced themselves in the Hockomock League. Both can lock up their respective divisions with wins this weekend.
4. Wachusett laid claim to being the best team in Central Massachusetts after beating St. John’s of Shrewsbury in a tight game. The Mountaineers proved that running the football and playing good defense still matter.
5. There are several 6-0 teams that could make some noise when the playoffs roll around. Hanover, Falmouth, Wellesley and Marblehead all have enough talent to make a run in their respective divisions. It’ll be interesting to see who they draw in the opening round.
5A. Billerica at Tewksbury will be a war on Saturday. The two programs are competing for the number one seed in D2 North. It will be a dandy.
