Georgia Bulldogs offensive coordinator Mike Bobo made the rounds in Massachusetts on Tuesday and spoke to several of the area’s top 2027 and 2028 prospects.

Bobo met with Xaverian’s Will Wood on Tuesday and according to Wood, the meeting went well. Bobo is planning on seeing Wood throw this spring.

“It went well, we talked about who I am and what I do best. He said he believes I am an offer guy based off film but is going to come back in the spring to watch me throw and if I throw well, he plans to offer me. I will probably be visiting Athens some time in March.”

Tabor Academy offensive lineman Dominic Maser also met with Bobo. Maser told me that the meeting went well and that he learned a lot from the experience.

“It went great. We talked mostly about offensive line play and life here at Tabor. It’s a great opportunity to talk to a coach as accomplished as him, and with a team as great as Georgia. It is a great way to start a relationship and I’m excited to keep it going.”

St. John’s Prep Brian St. Pierre says that Bobo recruiting Massachusetts and New England speaks to the type of talent we have up here.

“I think it’s a reflection of the caliber of player that we have up here in Massachusetts. We may not have the depth that some other bigger states have but we have guys every year that can make an impact at the highest level of college football.”

Georgia has a history with St. John’s Prep. Former Eagles safety Joenel Aguero starts at safety for the Bulldogs.

The influx of SEC schools to the region in recent years falls in line with what we have seen the past 10 plus years. Power 4 and Group of 5 schools are flocking to the region because it has legitimate big time talent.

For a school like Georgia, which previously recruited and signed tight end Arthur Lynch from Dartmouth, offensive tackle Xavier Truss from Bishop Hendricken, quarterback Ryan Puglisi of Avon Old Farms and Aguero, New England isn’t a last frontier of sorts. It is fertile recruiting ground that the has tapped into.

Kirby Smart and his staff will continue to recruit the region in the coming years and so will many of college football’s blue blood programs.

Xaverian coach Al Fornaro says that it proves Massachusetts kids can compete with other states and college coaches have taken notice.

“I believe what it says is that Massachusetts has some quality football players they can go out and compete with anybody. The colleges have taken notice and now that’s why they come around.”
