Former Harvard defensive tackle Thor Griffith and former Yale offensive tackle Jonathan Mendoza have both committed to Louisville. In a coup for Cardinals coach Jeff Brohm and his staff, Louisville lands two of the top graduate transfers in the transfer portal.

The 6-2 320 pound Griffith was a three year starter at Harvard and was one of the best defensive players in the Ivy League the past three seasons. He was a First Team All Ivy League performer this season.
When asked why he chose Louisville, Griffith told 24/7’s Cardinal Authority that it was all about Brohm and the Cardinals coaching staff. “It was the coaching staff,” Griffith said. “They’re so experienced, I love their mindset and their goals for next season and that’s what really kind of aligned in what I was looking for in a team.”
The New Hampshire native says that he wants to play against some of the best offensive lineman in the country and he feels that playing at Louisville enables him to get that experience and position himself to get drafted in 2025.
“I want to get more experience and more exposure playing against the best guys in the country,” he said. “I also want to be coached by one of the best D-line coaches in the country and kind of learn and absorb what he has to say, whether that be through schemes or through technique. I also want to win football games. I wouldn’t want to play for the best coach in the country if they are going 1-13. I want to be on a team that is going to be winning, that is going to be competing for championships and have that kind of success as well.”
Griffith is well known around the college football circles for his legendary strength and explosiveness off the ball. He has been considered one of the toughest defensive players to play against in the Ivy League the past three years and rightfully so.
Griffith did not mince any words when it comes to his long term goals. He told ESPN that his decision to commit to Louisville was all business.
“For me this is purely a football decision. I’m going to get the Harvard degree“ Griffith added: “It would be nice to get an MBA, but I already have the academic piece.”
After covering Griffith for the past three years, he is a dude and he will make an immediate impact once he steps foot on Louisville’s campus in June.
